Seminar 'Reducing Mechanical Vibrations'

The objective of the training was to convey the basics and measures for reducing vibrations of mechanical systems.
Methods of vibration isolation, elimination and damping as well as structural modification for the purpose of vibration reduction were explained in theory and deepened by means of practical examples. Experimental exercises on structure modification, vibration isolation, vibration damping as well as vibration and sound damping completed this seminar.

Mr Jüngel of Calenberg dealt with the theories of vibration isolation in civil engineering projects and gave practical examples: Receiver and source isolation in railway engineering and in structural support as well as designs of TMDs in chimneys, bridges and pipelines. The measurement of parameters important for vibration reduction, such as (non-linear) stiffness and damping ratio, were also covered.
